CLASS FEE: $85
| In this class, students will construct four pieced blocks that can be combined into a table runner, wall hanging, adorn the front of a tote bag or the back of a jacket. Basic piecing and quilting techniques will be taught, along with the importance of color and value in selecting material, and a variety of techniques for bordering and binding the project. |

Rotary cutter
Cutting mat 18” x 24”
Cutting ruler 6” x 24”
USE OF THESE TOOLS WILL BE DEMONSTRATED IN CLASS.
3⁄4 yd of solid, small or tone on tone print cotton fabric
1/3 yd. light print or solid cotton fabric
1/3 yd. dark print or solid cotton fabric
backing fabric - can be one of the above or a neutral that looks good with fabric selection.
COLOR, VALUE AND PRINT SELECTION WILL BE DISCUSSED IN CLASS.
Lightweight quilt batting (1 yd) or pre packaged crib size.

Bio
Louise is a national, regional and local award winner with her art quilts and original dolls. She is also a very popular teacher with many years experience in encouraging and guiding students to create beautiful pieces of fiber art. Her original quilts have been featured in several quilt magazines; and she had one quilt that was accepted to show in Paducah. Another fiberart passion is the design and creation of purses; and she has one in the gallery section of the current issue of "Haute Handbags". She has taught and lectured at quilt shops and quilt retreats in the East Tennessee area, as well as in the Southern Ohio area in the past few years. She has served as president of Smoky Mountain Quilters and Buckeye Blossoms Quilt Guild in Middletown, OH, as well as chairman of the Dogwood Arts Festival Quilt Show. Louise will be one of the instructors at Mountain Quiltfest in Pigeon Forge teaching a landscape quilt, fabric postcards, beaded edgings and embellishments, and the One Block Wonder. |

Class Description: Starting with “Dancing Lady” pins using wool, cloth and a splash or two of water, you will be able to master Nuno Felting, the process of laminating wool to a cloth base, quickly! After that, the sky’s the limit as we move on to make a wild and funky textured reversible scarf.
Geri teaches fiber arts classes regionally, nationally and Internationally and is the recipient of an Artists-In-The-Schools grant and is the dynamic force behind Tennessee Does Textiles, a regional wearable art fashion show. She is a juried member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild.

A dramatic photograph can alter our perception and appreciation of the subject matter at hand. It can raise awareness about threatened environments, social concerns or endangered cultures. Join Susan Hadorn as she shares her notions on the subject of documentary and fine art photography.
Susan will talk about evaluating images as it applies to documentary photography, her own work, her process and what her plans are for future work.
Susan Hadorn is a photographer based in Atlanta, GA and a Morris Galleries’ Artist. She received her MA in Photography from Savannah College of Art.
Susan has begun documenting disappearing architecture and landscapes in the Tennessee Valley. You can use her wonderful presentation to learn to document your own history. You will also enjoy her enthusiasm for her art.

KATHLEEN DALTON is the quintessential artist. She is well known in East Tennessee for the split oak baskets that she and her husband, Ken have made for many years. She is not as well known, but just as accomplished, for her paintings of landscapes and animals, which you have seen at the Gallery. Most of her paintings are of local interest. Kathleen and Ken owned Coker Creek Gallery for 25 years before retiring. Kathleen is a juried member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild.

| KRISTINE TAYLOR is a popular mixed media jeweler living in Knoxville and creating one-of-a-kind jewelry. Kristine’s feminine and elegant jewelry reflects her personality. Her mastery of color and design is striking in her blend of polymer clay and traditional jewelry materials. She is a juried member of Southern Highland Craft Guild and Foothills Craft Guild. |

ALEXA LETT enjoys the art of giving casual items renewed life and a fresh new purpose. Her inspiration for art comes from contradiction …rust and lace, pearls and wood, metal and fabric and a pure affection for anything vintage. Her ideas and art have been featured on various HGTV and Discovery Channel shows and has a published book HOMEMADE. Alexa was one of our first GEE! artists. She gave an enthusiastic and well-received talk on marketing hand-made art.

5) BASIC/INTERMEDIATE WATERCOLOR with BARB JOHNSON

Enjoy the experience and fun of watercolor painting with Barb Johnson. You’ll be introduced to the variety, creativity, and practical convenience of watercolors through four interactive sessions that will include:
· Hands-on techniques and practical exercises
· Tips on composition planning
· Learning how to create depth in space
· Developing still-life compositions
· Unique watercolor designs
Basic supplies will be included in the fee. By the end of the course your painting will be ready for matting and framing.
Barb has taught art for nearly 30 years, and currently teaches art serves as the art department chair in a Knoxville high school. She has extensive experience and has taught in various art mediums, but her favorite is watercolor. You’ll love her enthusiasm! I have personally owned Barb’s watercolors for years and cherish each one!

POLICIES FOR MORRIS GALLERIES
EDUCATIONAL EVENTS (GEE!)
• Educational Classes are open to everyone 18 years of age and older.
• Educational Classes will be held on the 2nd floor of Morris Galleries. Stairs access the 2nd floor.
• Registration/Cancellation deadline will be posted with each class listing, which will normally be two weeks before class day.
• Participants will be registered for class, once payment in full, plus kit fee (where applicable) is received. You are not registered if payment has not been received.
• Confirmation will be e-mailed (or mailed) with class description and supply list if applicable.)
• All classes must have a minimum number of attendees to be held. Classes filled on first come, first served basis.
• The Gallery reserves the right to cancel class, if minimum number of registrations is not met by registration deadline. Full refund will be given to registrants. Registrants will be notified of class cancellation as soon as possible.
• Cancellation by registrants must take place by Registration/Cancellation Deadline for full refund by contacting Gallery staff via phone (423-351-0101) or e-mail (susan@morrisgalleries.com). If by e-mail, receipt of cancellation must be confirmed by Gallery.
• No refunds will be issued after class cancellation deadline.
• Safety - Some Educational classes will involve using tools and materials, when used incorrectly, can cause injury. Instructors will review proper use of tools. Class attendees assume responsibility of working with said tools and materials.
